I want to start with the lyrics of a song but this month, I can't. I just don't have it in me this morning, or the time. If only I had something, like a plugin that I could install, that speeded everything up but kept me sane. Something a little like RokBooster, a new plugin for Joomla from RocketTheme that keeps everything working but just makes it faster.

Clarion, the February 2012 template release, is a subtle theme, primed for business use or as a platform for extensive individual customization. Built on the Gantry Framework, Clarion has a range of powerful, flexible and intuitive features and functions. Every month there are four or five very good themes for Joomla released and I've written before that sometimes you stop looking at just the theme and look at the extras you get with it.

We've just released version 1.2 of AdminPraise 3 for Joomla 1.7. This release fixes some bugs and incompatibilities with Rockettheme Gantry, K2, Frontpage Slideshow and SSL. This time for the month of November 2011. The post is a bit delayed, as we are already in December, but the templates are worth looking at nonetheless. It is that time of the month again. New themes land on my desk and I get to have a little look. When I first saw this one, even though I knew it was RocketTheme, I didn't think it was. I like the surprises I keep getting from these guys. This is not your typical content theme - what Joomla is good at. No, this one is all about RocketTheme and very specifically RokGallery - the lovely, even if a little consuming to get the hang off (I should read the forums more, I know) extension, that has me seriously interested in throwing galleries back on my personal site.

Visage, the December 2011 template release, is a contemporary blending of stunning, refined visuals, combined with a polished and powerful undertone, providing a unique look that is flexible and intuitive to use. The foundational Gantry Framework creates a core rich with features, such as the 960 Grid System, per menu item configuration, amongst many others. Visage has integrated styled support for several RocketTheme Extensions, providing them with a consistent and stunning appearance. Included are: RokGallery (Component/Module), RokTabs and RokContentRotator.

A couple of days ago we were notified about a SQL injection security vulnerability in our Ajax-enabling RokModule extension. This extensions is generally not used by itself, but rather it enables Ajax for the following extensions for both Joomla 1.5 and 1.7: RokStock RokWeather RokNewspager Even if you are not currently using these extensions on your RocketTheme based site, you may still be vulnerable if you have these extensions installed. It is strongly advised that you download the latest version of RokModule and install it immediately to address this issue: RokModule v1.3 for Joomla 1.7 RokModule v1.4 for Joomla 1.5 You can determine if you have this extensions installed and if it needs updating by using the Extensions Manager in the Joomla Administrator and clicking on the Components sub menu option. Then you just need to look for RokModule in the list and check the version. You can download the latest version here: RokModule Downloads NOTICE: for Joomla 1.5 it's safer to uninstall the existing version of the com_rokmodule component prior to installing the version. Also we've updated the extensions themselves with this updated version, along with RocketLaunchers and extensions bundles for the affected templates.

Sometimes, you see a theme that you don't really know how to categorise. This is one of those themes and when you have a see in detail, you'll understand why. But out of the confusion, is where some of the nicer sites come from. What RocketTheme are doing with this release, is giving you the tools and the pieces - it is up to you to put them together.

I don't want to tell anyone about the theme from RocketTheme. This theme should not be seen or heard of ever again. I want this theme all for myself and I'm going to use it all for myself and I'm going to use it as is - it doesn't need anything else apart from my images of my local ski hill. Actually, I'm going to make a rule - if you are not using this for a ski hill, you should leave now. It is the perfect ski hill web site and very soon, it will be representing my village ski hill in northern Sweden. It is that good, I'm actually going to change the logo of our ski hill so it fits this theme.

Transparency is the new left aligned website. You're thinking left aligned is so 90's but I'm telling you now, they're coming back. I've asked on theme provider forums for ages that someone does one, but nobody is listening, but you mark my words .. they're coming back. As for transparent themes - they are very much here and it is the flexibility they give that makes them popular. This new one from RocketTheme isn't 100% transparent - they are so 2010 - but it has elements.

We have been internally discussing the possibility of hosting a RocketTheme User/Developer Conference. The idea is that we would organize and host a 1 or 2 day conference in a that we could use to cover a variety of topics. To start with we will probably focus on Joomla as it's the most popular CMS among our members. Topics we are bouncing around include: Customizing Existing Club Template - How to take an existing design and modify it completely for your clients Design-to-Template - Workshop on how to take a custom design to finished Joomla template (multiple part full day workshop covering all aspects of the process) Cross-Browser Testing and Gotchas - How to debug and fix browser bugs and issues Gantry Framework Tutorial - The ins-and-outs of the Gantry Framework including how to implement and extend it RocketTheme Extensions - How to use, modify, and implement a wide-variety of functionality with our array of extensions MooTools Development - Core concepts, differences compared to other JS frameworks, developing cool mootools based scripts, how to upgrade scripts from version 1.11 to 1.3 Advanced Q&A - Ask the team anything! If you have any ideas for a session that would be beneficial to a large portion of users, please reply to this thread with your concepts. We are not certain on any exact details (location, price, schedule) at this point, but if we get a decent amount of interest we may proceed with planning and development of this idea. I've spent the last couple of evenings reading over the latest Magento books from Packt Publishing - namely their Magento 1.4 Development Cookbook and their Magento 1.4 Themes Design - which they kindly sent me review copies of after discovering RocketTheme "while searching for professionals with Magento development experience". Considering I've spent the best part of the last 2 years working exclusively with Magento - both developing extensions and constructing themes - I guess I'm pretty well versed in the ways of Magento, but as Magento is such a large system, I figured I'd likely learn something new, so I took them up on their offer.
